Children generally make their First Holy Communion and thir First Pennace or Confession in the second grade and their Confirmation in the eighth grade.
Families who would like their childrento prepare for the sacraments must enroll the child in religious instruction for at least two yearsprior tio the reception of the sacaments.
Church attendance is mandatory for all those who are preparing for the sacraments and children in the second grade and eighth grade classes receive a Mass attendance card at the beginning of their final year of preparation.
There is a commitment ceremoney in the Fall for those in the seccond grade Communion class and the eighth grade Confirmation classes at which the candidates and their arents are expected to attend.
Confirmation candidates are required to keep a journal that they are to write in weekly. They are required to volunteer 20 hours of service to the church during Sunday Mass and twenty hours of community service druing the week.
First Penance is celebrated during Lent and First Communion and Confirmation during the Easter Season.
